The short version

The free profile check runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not transmitted to us, not written to a database, and not logged. When you close the tab, they are gone.

The one exception is if you choose to have your result emailed to you. That is optional, it appears only after you have already seen your result, and it sends the score and band, never your individual answers.

What we never ask for

The questionnaire asks about your circumstances. It never asks for anything that could identify you. We do not ask for, and have no way to receive:

  • Your passport number or any document number
  • Your bank account number, sort code, or IBAN
  • Your home address or date of birth
  • Your name, your employer’s name, or your host’s name
  • Any document, photograph or scan. There is nothing to upload

A tool that never holds those cannot leak them. This is a design decision, not a promise about our security practices.

Why we do ask about amounts

The check asks for approximate figures: roughly what you earn in a month, roughly what you have saved, roughly what the trip will cost, and the dates you intend to travel. We ask because it is the only way the tool can do the thing that makes it useful: compare what you told us in one place against what you told us in another, and show you where the two do not agree. Bands cannot contradict each other. Numbers can.

An amount is not an identifier. “About $2,000 a month” describes a very large number of people and singles out none of them; a bank account number singles out exactly one. That distinction is the whole line we draw, and it is why we ask the first and refuse the second. The figures behave like every other answer: they stay in your browser, and they reach our servers only if you choose to buy a report.

What we do collect

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It is cookieless and does not build a profile of you across sites. We see aggregate counts, not individuals. It also records four things about how the check is used: that one was started, that one was finished, the band and a score range rather than the exact figure, and whether somebody reached checkout. A range is used deliberately, because an exact score next to a timestamp could eventually be matched back to one person.

We additionally use Google Analytics, but only if you agree to it when asked. It is not loaded otherwise. See the cookies section below.

If you buy something

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers, we cannot see them. We receive your email address and a record of what you bought, which we keep for accounting and to send you the thing you paid for.

If you buy a report

To produce your report we have to send your answers to our servers: there is no way to generate a personalised document without them. What happens to them:

  • They are held in memory only for as long as it takes to build the PDF, typically a few seconds.
  • They are never written to a database, a file, or a log. When the request finishes, they are gone.
  • The written analysis in the report is produced with the help of Anthropic’s Claude API, so your answers are transmitted to Anthropic to generate that text. We do not permit them to be used to train models.
  • We keep your email address and the fact of the purchase, because we are required to for accounting and because you need somewhere to receive the file. We do not keep the answers alongside it.

The free check is unaffected by any of this, it runs entirely in your browser and sends us nothing.

If you ask us to email your result

After your result is on screen you may optionally ask for a copy by email. If you do, we receive and store:

  • the email address you typed;
  • your score, your band, and which visa route you checked;
  • whether you also opted in to receive guides, and the date you consented.

We do not receive your individual answers. Nothing about your employment, your finances, your immigration history or your travel record leaves your browser.

The two consents are separate and both start unticked: one to send the result, one to receive occasional guides. You can withdraw either at any time, every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address entirely by writing to hello@visaassess.com. Our lawful basis is your consent, and we keep a record of when it was given.

If you email us

We keep the correspondence so we can answer you and follow up. Nothing more.

Cookies and what sits in your browser

We set no cookies unless you say yes. On your first visit you are asked once whether Google Analytics may run. Until you answer, and for as long as the answer is no, Google’s script is not loaded at all. Not blocked, not loaded in a restricted mode, simply not there. You can check that yourself: view the page source before answering and there is no Google on the page.

If you say yes, Google Analytics sets its own cookies and tells us which pages people read and roughly where they are in the world. It also receives the same four usage events described above, on the same terms: the route, the band, a score range rather than the exact figure, and whether somebody reached checkout. It never receives your individual answers, because those are not sent to it. If you say no, we still count page views through Vercel Analytics, which uses no cookies and builds no profile of you across sites.

Your choice is remembered in your browser under va-consent so you are not asked again, including when the answer was no. Clearing your browser data resets it and you will be asked once more.

The check does use one piece of browser storage, and it is worth being precise about it. Your answers are held in sessionStorage, which is a private area belonging to that one browser tab. It exists so your answers survive the round trip to Stripe and back if you buy a report. Three things follow from the choice of sessionStorage over localStorage: it is wiped when you close the tab, it is not readable by any other site, and it is never sent to us unless you deliberately buy something.

That is also why buying on your phone and opening the receipt link on a laptop does not work for the report. The answers were never on our servers to send you.

Who else is involved

The complete list of third parties that can touch anything of yours. Nobody else is involved, and we sell nothing to data brokers or advertisers.

  • Vercel, hosting and cookieless analytics
  • Google, analytics, and only if you agreed to it. If you did not, Google receives nothing and its script never loads
  • Stripe, payments. Card details go to Stripe directly and never pass through us
  • Anthropic, writes the prose of a paid report from your answers. Only reached when you buy one
  • Resend, sends the result email if you request it
  • Zoho, our own mailbox, if you write to us

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, including access, correction, deletion, and withdrawal of consent. Because the free check never reaches us, there is usually nothing held about you to exercise those rights over. Where we do hold something (a purchase record or an email), write to hello@visaassess.com and we will action it.

Where data goes

Tanzeel Labs, LLC is a US company. Our hosting is Vercel and our payment processor is Stripe; both may process data outside your country. We use their standard data-processing terms for international transfers.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
  • We do not use your answers to train any AI model.
  • We do not share your information with immigration authorities, agents, or advisers.
  • We do not run advertising trackers or third-party ad pixels.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the substance of the change is described here rather than quietly edited in.
