How these are written
Almost everything published about visitor visas falls into one of two piles. Agencies write to sell a service, so the message is always that the process is complicated and you need help. Content farms write to rank, so they restate the same eight paragraphs with a confident number invented where the rules decline to give one. Both leave you knowing less than you think.
I write these because I have been the applicant. Twenty-eight countries on a passport that gets questioned, which means I have assembled the bundle, guessed at what mattered, and been wrong about it. Where I can speak from having done it, I do, and I say so. Where the answer is a matter of law, I quote the rule and link the source so you can check me.
Three rules I hold myself to. Every factual claim traces to a primary source, usually GOV.UK or the Immigration Rules themselves. Nothing here tells you what to do with your own application, because that is regulated advice and I am not a regulated adviser. And where the rules genuinely do not specify a figure, I say that plainly rather than filling the silence with a number, which is the single most common failure in this whole category.
What is coming
The next guides are the refusal cluster, starting with what a refusal notice actually means and how the general grounds in Part 9 work, then the documents cluster covering what each item in a bundle is actually evidence of. After that, proving ties to your home country, which is the heaviest factor on the route and the worst documented by most applicants.
The US and Schengen guides are deliberately not written yet. Doing them properly means sourcing them to the State Department and the Visa Code the same way these are sourced to GOV.UK, and writing them from memory in the meantime would make this site exactly the thing it exists to be an alternative to.
